Imre Szobotka

 

He started his studies at the Academy of Applied Arts in Budapest in 1905 where his master was Ignác Újváry. In his travel to Paris in 1910 cubism influenced his art. After short visits to Belgium and Germany he returned to Paris and he studied with Metzinger and Le Fauconnier in La Palette art school. In 1913-14 he participated in exhibitions of Salon des Indepentants.At the outbreak of the First World War Szobotka was relocated to Bretagne. His works of art from this period mirrored the special adaptation of theoretical and practical rules of cubism. 

In 1919 he came back to Hungary and his works of art were presented in Belvedere Gallery in 1921. His works of art became more natural in Hungary. He painted in Igal, Szentendre, Zebegény and Balaton. Large amount of his paintings made before the Second World War was perished. He was the cofounder of KÚT.
